I'm Zhiyan — software engineering manager at Shopee, writing from the unconventional path.
Some fun facts about me:
- Ex-freelancer (paid for my college education writing PHP — best programming language ever. Fight me.)
- Cofounded 2 startups (both failed miserably).
- Ph.D drop-out (research is hard).
- Joined Shopee in 2016, and found peace since then.
- Worked on early versions of Seller Center, logistics, and ShopeePay wallet — likely wrote some shitty code that's still running today.
- Now leading the Marketplace Buyer team and building a better Shopee every day.
